Description
In September of 2009, Anchor Church launched in Seattle. As a community we strive to know God, and see our lives, church, and city transformed by Jesus and His Spirit. We are an urban church, bringing the Gospel to our city in word and action.
Every Sunday we gather for simple, low-fi worship services; more about content than accoutrement. We meet in the middle of the Wallingford neighborhood right on 45th at the Boys and Girls Club. Sundays are centered on the worship of Jesus as we preach, sing, confess, and pray.
Our neighborhood based communities are the back bone of Anchor Church. These groups are how we do life together intentionally throughout the week. Small groups of people that walk with one another as we grow in the Gospel and actively share the Truth with our city.
We are involved in church planting as a member of Acts 29 and also by supporting church plants both in Seattle and overseas. We are a young church with a vision to reproduce, as God allows, other healthy, urban, Gospel-centered churches. We are seeking to train leaders and church planters who are called to expand the church in the urban context (for more info email foundry@anchorseattle.org). We are convinced that church planting is one of the most effective ways to reach the city and see as many people as possible meet Jesus.
